The Eastern University School of Leadership and Development, Comcast Spectacor and Access Sports present Sports Symposium 2012: Sports as Caring: Dimensions of Therapy and Life Skills in Sports and Community Recreation. “Faith, Family, and Sports: A Journey of Life-Linkages”

This presentation will focus on the interlinks between faith-based agencies, families, and sports as motivators and encouragers of whole life living and academic scholarship. Ms. Mobley-Stimpson, a Palmer Seminarian and Sider Center Scholar, will profile her work as a mother of elite athletes, fifth-generation South Philadelphians who today are college athletes and Major League Baseball Prospects. Their journey through the “ranks,” as well as key principles that must be the focus of youth sports development, will be discussed. The session will suggest means that faith-based organizations, churches, community development corporations, & community-based organizations can more effectively build their programs.Dr. Cheryl A.
